Dental Implants

Dental implants are the most naturally functioning and permanent solution for replacing missing teeth. The implants will allow you to laugh, talk, and eat normally and with confidence again! They are beautiful restorations that can greatly improve your quality of life and your oral health.

Dental implants are titanium posts that are placed into the jawbone to create a strong bond, just like that of a natural tooth root. An abutment is then placed onto the implant, acting as a foundation for your final replacement tooth.

The process for placing a dental implant begins with the placement of the titanium post. It is inserted into the jawbone, and must be left to heal and fuse with the bone for about 3-6 months to create a natural, strong bond. During this time you will be fitted with temporary crowns so that you will be able to eat and speak properly and maintain a nice smile. Once your implants have fully healed, your abutment will be placed on the implant. An impression is then taken of your abutment and is used to create a perfectly fitted permanent restoration. As soon as your final restoration is placed, you can almost immediately return to normal activities. Dental implants do not require getting used to, as they will look and function just like your natural teeth.

Dental implants may seem more costly than dentures or dental bridges, but they are a one-time fee, unlike dentures or bridges. Dentures and bridges require maintenance over the years, readjustments or even needing to be replaced which is a continual cost that adds up. Your dental implants should last you a lifetime if cared for properly. You will never have to be worried your dental implants will slip or slide out of place, because they are secured into your mouth!

Caring for your dental implants is just like caring for your natural teeth, with regular brushing, flossing and bi-annual dental cleanings and exams.
